HELMET SAFETY CHECKLIST
Start Smart. Ride Confident.
Your helmet is your most important piece of riding gear. Before your first ride of the season — or anytime something feels off — take two minutes to run through this quick safety check.
SHELL & EXTERIOR CHECK
Inspect the shell for cracks, spidering, or soft spots
Check around vents, edges, and mounting points
Confirm the helmet has not been dropped or impacted since last season
LINER & INTERIOR CHECK
Press the liner foam — it should compress and rebound fully
Check for hardened, brittle, or uneven areas
Ensure comfort pads are secure and properly positioned
Look for loose or shifting interior components
CHIN STRAP & RETENTION SYSTEM
Inspect the chin strap for fraying or loose stitching
Examine the buckle for cracks, separation, or misalignment
Buckle and unbuckle several times — engagement should feel smooth and secure
Tug firmly downward on the strap to confirm it holds without shifting
VISIBILITY & SHIELD CHECK
Visor or shield is clear and free of distortion
No excessive scratches that affect visibility
Shield opens, closes, and seals properly
FIT CHECK
Helmet feels snug and evenly balanced
Does not rotate independently when you shake your head
No pressure pain after several minutes of wear
